Curator - Documentation Officer

£22,167 - £25,074 pa plus benefits

The Palaeontology Department seeks a collection manager specialising in
documentation and databasing of invertebrate fossils. We are looking for a
motivated, self-confident, experienced individual to develop a strong
collections databasing programme that will underpin curation and research
projects.

Requirements include a BSc in geology, palaeontology, museum studies or
equivalent, knowledge of the systematics of a fossil invertebrate group,
knowledge of contemporary collections management procedures, data
entry/database management experience, good organisational, leadership and
team-working/collaborative skills, and a high degree of personal creativity.
Relevant post-graduate education, experience of writing successful
collections grant proposals, and specimen conservation experience are highly
desirable. This position will be a permanent appointment after a one-year
probationary interval.
