Dear colleagues

We are approaching to the Taphos’08 meeting that will be held in Granada
(12-14 June). Therefore, we would like to remain you the important deadlines:

29 February 2008: Deadline for registration and payment of the fees.
15 April 2008: Deadline for abstracts submission.
1 June 2008: Last option for payment of the fees with prices increased.
12-14 June 2008: 5ª Reunión de Tafonomía y Fosilización - 3rd Meeting on
Taphonomy and Fossilization, Taphos’08

All the information related with the meeting can be found in the web site
<http://www.ugr.es/~taphos08/>http://www.ugr.es/~taphos08/

We would like to inform you that this site has been updated. In the
“accommodation” link, we have included a list of hotels close to the
Facultad de Ciencias, the place where the meeting will take place, as well
as a general map showing the accesses to Granada, and a detailed map of the
centre of Granada in which you can find the location of the hotels. We
highlight that the prices of some hotels might vary (i.e. Granada Centre
Hotel), so we encourage you to contact the hotel before to make the
reservations.

Further, we inform you that the two invited talks are already confirmed.
One of the talks will be given by Dr. Matthew A. Wills, from the Dpt. of
Biology and Biochemistry (University of Bath), and will be focussed on the
completeness of the fossil record, different approaches to measuring the
match between cladograms and fossil record, and case studies of particular
groups.

The second talk, as was already announced, will be given by Dr. Carles
Martín-Closas, from the Dpt. Estratigrafia i Paleontologia i Geociències
Marines (University of Barcelona). It will deal with plant taphonomy, and
how taphonomic proccesses affect the fossil record of plants.

Detailed information of the talks, together with a draft and pictures of
the two field trips, will be added to the web site soon. We will inform you
at that time.

Looking forward to seening you in Granada soon.

All the very best.

Julio
